7 MINUTES VISION
7 minute vision was a community art project where we as artists invited people from different non-art-related social groups in Fredrikstad to collaborate with
us on the development of an art project. The aim was to involve our participants and create our project entirely based on who they were and what the collaboration with them could bring.
The project was tutored by Joshua Sofaer and Cammilla Eeg, and was a continuous three week process in September 2008. I participated in the concept development.
THE CONCEPT
The four women of '7 minutes vision' will bring their umbrellas and green clipboards to the high school Fredrik II to collect big visions from the students at this particular school. This because Fredrikstad kommune finds it difficult to communicate with these youths and wants to know what they like or not and what could involve them in politics. This the four women of '7 minutes vision' will do by approaching the students one on one with seven quite extraordinary questions. To every answer the three hostesses who are not currently doing the interview will nod approvingly and mumble among them selves what an amazing idea, how very interesting, how wonderful is not this interviewee, and what marvelous suggestions while they too make notes with their red pens on their own clipboards.
All questions, which are more or less in the crazy direction of 'What kind of superpower would you give to the mayor?', lead up to the final and most important one which goes as follows: We have a place which is Nygardsgata and we have a time which is Wednesday September 24. at seven o clock SHARP. We have everything required to make it happen. It can be anything and everything, the only thing we need is an idea of what is going to happen. What would you like to see in Nygardsgata September 24. seven o' clock, SHARP?
And on that specific day and time ONE of the visions from ONE of the students will be realized, but it will only last for 7 minutes. It will not be video or photo documented and will only exist for the ones who are there to see it. You might miss out, engage, tell the '7 minutes vision' what you would like to see.
