DOTS INFECTION
Performed 12. June 2008 at Nationalteateret underground station in Oslo by Annick Lavalleé-Benny, Ingo Keil, Erik Kristoffer Ebert Nielsen, Naja Lee Jensen and Ingrid Rusten.
Restaged 23. August 2008 at Øyafestivalen in Oslo by Ingrid Rusten, Karen Tømte, Severin Urwyler, Helene Abrahamsen and Bente Alice Westgård.
As a part of Electronic Art’s release of their new game SPORE they invited six scenographers from Norwegian Theatre Academy to each make an urban space performance inspired by the game. The project was tutored by the Russian artist Andrej Bartenev and head of scenography dpt. Serge von Arx.
My performance, Dots Infection, sought to question our awareness of everyday surroundings. Five creatures looking like alien amoebas from a computer game entered Nationalteatret underground station. They moved like a worm from place to place and on nine selected locations they spread out their common body to hide as much of the architectural surface as possible. Then they wiggled and wobbled and when they finally slid off it the entire surface was covered with magenta dots. The performance lasted for 30 minutes and the dots were spread throughout the entire station both inside and outside. It was so well received by Electronic Art that it was also invited to be shown at Øyafestivalen 2008.
You are also welcome to watch process-sneak-peek IMAGES and also a VIDEO from the performance at Nationalteatret Station.
