Boys. Girls. Sex. Sexes. Abuse.
‘Hysj!’ (Hush!) is a documentary theater performance about self-respect and respect. Respect for your own and other’s body. Northern Norway is high up on the statistics on sexual abuse. One out of ten girls between 14 and 15 years say they have experienced sexual abuse the previous year in Finmark.
The project has it’s starting point from several cases in Kautokeino in 2005 where adult men exchanged sex for phone-cash-cards from 13-14-15 year old girls. At one point 22 men were under police-investigation. During the last three years the two project-leaders, Janne Wettre and Ellen Zahl Jonassen, have interviewed people within healthcare, psychologists, police, scientists, journalists, social-anthropologists, mothers, fathers, leaders of youth-clubs, lawyers, social-workers, philosophers, teachers, sociologists, priests, professors, youth, boys and girls, people from big cities and small places. This research will be presented through text, music, film, pictures, actions and dialogues in Hysj!, a performance about respect and dignity.
