Leap of faith
Premiere 26.10.2017
BIT Teatergarasjen
(Photographer Lena Therese Lie)
Produced and performed by Happy Gorilla in collaboration with Naja Lee Jensen and Karen Eide Bøen. Light design by Thomas Bruvik and sound design by Bjørnar Nilsen.
The skilled craftsman Daidalos sits bent in deep concentration over his work bench. Sketching, measuring, calculating and building. It has to be innovative, visionary, something that stretches beyond the known and breaks the monotony of the every day ritual. His son Ikaros is bored, stares at the sky above, feels the heat from the sun and dream about the impossible. The freedom is right there in the dangerous flight.
A white sheet, a closed labyrinth - the leap into the unknown - more than aware of the possibility of stumbling and falling. Hope is the root of most things, founded on myths, an infinite amount of information and an increasingly deceptive language. Do we have time to learn the new? Did we forget something in the flood of impossible choices based on trust, in the balance between the wish to maintain full control and the temptation in all the wonderful possibilities out there? The world is still real. Luckily we are still us.
"Time is the substance I am made of. Time is a river which sweeps me along, but I am the river; it is a tiger which destroys me, but I am the tiger; it is a fire which consumes me, but I am the fire. The world, unfortunately, is real; I, unfortunately, am Borges." - Jorge Luis Borges
