THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO
8. March – 11. March 2008, KHIO scene 3, Oslo, Norway
Direcor: Peer Arne Perez Øian
Actors: Marie Blokhus, Herman Bernhoft og Thomas Bye
Scenography/lighting: Susanne Irene Fjørtoft
Costumes: Inga-Lill Farstad
Excerpt based on the play ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ by Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais (75 min). The production was a collaboration between NTA and KHIO, and was produced at KHIO. Tutored by Serge von Arx/AJ Weissbard/Hans Henriksen.
The play It is all about games, trickery, fooling and not being fooled. Who is playing what game, and what is really at stake? Everyone has hidden agendas and no-one knows for real who has teamed up with who and in the end it’s each man for himself. This excerpt is focusing on the intrigues between three of the main characters in the play, Figaro, the Count and Suzanne. In addition to this the actors are playing an underlying role as ‘themselves’ and the story constantly switch between the storyline of the play and the storyline of the actors as actors. In the end it’s hard to tell what is the REAL motivation behind the actions you see before you as an audience. Everything unfolding and unravelling in an abstract gameworld where colors, shapes and lines form intricate invisible spaces and rules for movements.
